About this producer:
The family estate, owned by MORGEAU, has existed since the 1860s with initially 1 hectare of vines. Today, it extends over 26 hectares. The estate is still on the original farm from the end of the 19th century (cellar, stable, barn), now transformed into a place of winemaking and tasting cellar.
Alongside Pierre Morgeau, there is a whole team: Gilles and Brigitte (his parents), Michel, Quentin, Danielle, Jean-Pierre, Philippe, Jean-Charles, Roger, Morgan and Sandrine work passionately every day in the vineyards, in the cellar and in marketing.
The vineyards of Domaine La Tour Beaumont are spread over two hillsides, shared by a river: the Clain. One type of soil predominates, corresponding to a well-defined geological age; the Turonian (upper Cretaceous).
The Beaumont hillside is crossed by multiple cellars dug into the Tuffeau (Tuffeau is the result of a slow and long transformation of sediment into rock). The bottled wines are kept in one of them.
Trees, hedges, groves, and forests surround the vineyards of the Domaine. Biodiversity is very present and has always been preserved: a true wine-growing terroir.
Work has been carried out jointly with the LPO (league for the protection of birds) since the beginning of 2018, attesting to existing hedges, isolated trees, groves and bushes, with a census of species (birds, insects) and their number present.
In 2019, the implementation of new actions favorable to biodiversity (birdhouses, planting of new hedges, etc.) is planned.
