About this producer:
The estate covers seventeen hectares of vines located on the first slope of Vouvray, including four hectares certified in organic farming. A winegrower for nine generations, Nicolas strives to cultivate his vineyard in a traditional way, respecting the vine (only harvested by hand) and the environment (minimal use of treatment products and plowing of the vine as a substitute for weedkillers). His wines do not contain any pesticide residue (analyses by the Inovalys 37 laboratory).
The wines are very distinctive: lively, powerful, fruity, full of character and made to age. They come from a single grape variety: the chenin blanc, which gives rise to sparkling white wines, or to still white wines which can be dry, semi-dry, sweet or sweet depending on the year. This grape variety is therefore very rich since it is able to produce a wide range of products, depending on each vintage.
The quality of the wines are regularly recognized at numerous national and international competitions (Paris, Brussels, Strasbourg, etc.).
The soils are clay-limestone and rich in flint. Combined with the characteristics of Chenin, this allows the production of powerful, fruity but balanced white wines with a wonderful capacity to age. The vines are aged from 3 to 75 years and have names that suggest the type of wines they are capable of producing: thus, the richest vintages come from 50-year-old vines which have a low yield but give grapes concentrating the maximum amount of sugar. These vines are called "Le paradis" or "Les brûlés", they will produce the sweetest wines.
Those around twenty years old will be devoted to the production of dry or semi-dry wines while the younger ones will give rise to vintages intended for sparkling wines.
